Center for Coffee Research & Education (CCRE)

Through four pillarsresearch, education, development and services and a unique connection to industry professionals, the scientific community and coffee producers, the CCRE is fostering key advancements in coffee research while providing capacity building through training the next generation of coffee producers, technicians and enthusiasts.

Established in September 2016, the Center for Coffee Research & Education is part of the Norman Borlaug Institute for International Agriculture.

Education: Coffee education for undergraduate and graduate students, researchers and coffee connoisseurs. Currently offering an undergraduate coffee class, a service-learning study abroad, as well as coffee processing short courses.

Research: investigation into coffee chemistry, genetics, physiology, sensory, phytopathology and socioeconomics.

Development: Currently leading two USAID-funded projects in Latin America.

Services: Offering inquiry-based services to meet needs on demand. Analysis tailored to fit individualized needs is bolstered by technical expertise and access to research-grade technologies.
