This faculty development initiative includes two major elements: i) a retooling program equipping faculty and staff with the tools and strategies to navigate changes in federal funding opportunities while aligning research efforts with shifting national agenda and policies; and ii) a program empowering faculty engagement with mission-oriented sponsors, including industry partners, philanthropic foundations, and other private sector entities. Spearheaded by the Office of the Vice President for Research, this initiative is supported through collaboration with key university entities and units including, Sponsored Research Services, Texas A&M Foundation, Texas A&M Innovation, Texas A&M AgriLife, Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station, the Texas A&M University System Office of Research, and Aggie Collaborate, ensuring faculty and staff have the necessary tools and infrastructure to successfully adapt to the changing funding landscape.

Programs

To support faculty and staff to effectively engage with mission-driven sponsors and the private sector, Texas A&M University is launching a two-phase program beginning in Spring 2025.

Phase 1

Workshop to advance research and innovation through private-sector partnerships

September 12, 2025

This workshop will provide researchers with practical resources for initiating, structuring, and sustaining partnerships with the private sector including industry, philanthropic foundations, and nonprofit organizations. Participants will gain insights into what motivates the private sector to fund research, strategies to frame and pitch their research ideas for funding, and resources available to facilitate sponsored projects and resulting intellectual property. The workshop is intended to cultivate the necessary resources, networks, and leadership to launch as many subsequent workshops as needed to meet the expected growth in demand.

Phase II

Intensive Hands-on Boot Camp
