The Division of Research is requesting applications for a Faculty Fellow for Core Facilities. The fellow will gain administrative and leadership experience and assist the Division of Research with specific initiatives. The fellow will work closely with the Associate Vice President for Centers and Institutes to advance core facilities operations to enhance the research ecosystem at Texas A&M University. Specifically, the fellow will support the following efforts:

  • Work with core facility directors and stakeholders to advance and support a universitywide tiered management structure of core facilities.
    • Communication and visibility support.
    • Grant writing support and coordination for infrastructure and instrumentation grants.
    • Equipment management (service contracts/maintenance).
    • Mechanisms for researcher/user training and education.
    • Financial management, integration of rate studies and performance-based budgets for rate setting and compliance.
    • Business skills training and workshops.
  • Strategic planning and management of core facilities.
    • Universitywide assessment of core facilities infrastructure to identify gaps, strengths and opportunities to improve core facilities services, outcomes and efficiencies.
    • Regional core facility networks and opportunities.
    • Identify opportunities to facilitate coordination between and among core facilities.
    • Develop and disseminate examples of formalization, standardization, and use of evaluation metrics for core facilities.

The Faculty Fellow positions are funded at 25% effort distributed over 11 months. Funding for the positions is for one year from the start date with the understanding that the position is renewable pending available funding and overall satisfactory performance. The positions are open to current Texas A&M associate or full professors.
