VIDEO: The scope and impact of Texas A&M research in 76 seconds

In a new video released online today, 13 faculty-researchers, former students, professionals, and graduate and undergraduate students introduce viewers to the scope and impact of research conducted at Texas A&M University – in just 76 seconds.

Titled “Research Is,” the video is the latest produced by the Division of Research through its Communications and Public Relations office. It is now available for viewing, sharing or embedding at the Division’s research portal: research.tamu.edu.

Those representing Texas A&M’s campuses in College Station, Galveston and Qatar with speaking roles in the video are:

Chemist Karen Wooley, a Distinguished Professor in the College of Science and one of the world’s leading innovators in the field of materials and polymer chemistry;

Electrical engineer B. Don Russell, a Regents Professor in the Dwight Look College of Engineering and a recognized expert on the monitoring and protection of electric power systems;

Chemical engineer Mark Holtzapple, a professor in the Dwight Look College of Engineering, and a prolific inventor of technologies that promote sustainable economic development;

Foreign policy scholar Valerie Hudson, the George H.W. Bush Chair in the Bush School of Government and Public Service, who has developed a nation-by-nation database on women that has served scholars, policymakers, the U.S. Senate and the United Nations;

Skyscraper designer Adrian Smith, a former student in the College of Architecture, who designed the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, United Arab Emirates;

Yousuf Al-Badr, a student at Texas A&M University at Qatar;

Plant scientist Amir Ibrahim, a professor in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, and the project leader of the Small Grains Breeding program;

Operations manager Jordan Brod from the Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory, one of the busiest labs of its kind in the world;

Marine biologist Tom Iliffe, a professor at the Texas A&M University at Galveston and an internationally renowned expert on scientific cave diving;

Historian Angela Hudson, an associate professor in the College of Liberal Arts who studies the history of American Indians as well as the 19th century South in the US.

Veterinarian Meredyth Jones, an assistant professor in the College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences, and an authority on field services for food animals;

Child health researcher Lisako McKyer, an associate professor in the College of Education and Human Development, and the founder of the Child and Adolescent Health Research Lab; and

Entrepreneur Kyler Ferris, a 2014 graduate in finance who launched his company, Chutes Shorts, at the Texas A&M’s business incubator, Startup Aggieland.
