Research Identity
What is the Texas A&M research identity—and why is it important?
In December 2023, General (Ret.) Mark A. Welsh III, President, at the State of the University address, challenged the research enterprise community to articulate through defining a research identity, what we want Texas A&M research to be known for.
Over the course of February through May 2024, a lead committee, comprised of faculty researchers, staff, and administrators from Texas A&M met and had thoughtful discussions, bringing their unique perspectives on what are the traits and characteristics that define Texas A&M research; some were also charged with communicating within their constituent groups, providing for broad input across the research enterprise. Stakeholders were invited to Update & Listening sessions that were held in April and May, to further the conversation and provide an opportunity for all to participate and share perspectives.
The feedback period has since ended.
Update & Listening Presentation
The Research Identity Committee invited stakeholders to attend Update & Listening Sessions to gain feedback on the progress and developments on fulfilling the charges made in discussing and defining the Texas A&M Research identity.
Sessions were also held with the University Research Council, Faculty Senate Research Committee, Council of Deans, department heads and distinguished professors.
