The annual selection of new fellows recognizes extraordinary scholarship and creativity among Texas A&M faculty members who are engaged in the humanities or the creative arts.

Background and Purpose
Established in 2015, the Arts & Humanities Fellowship (AHF) supports individual scholars seeking “significant advancement or completion of major scholarly or creative work” in the humanities and creative arts. It has a purpose and history of propelling researchers to grants and fellowships such as the Mellon Foundation Grant, NEH, NEA, and ACLS.
Funding
Fellows will receive $15,000 for their projects. Funds may be used to support the advancement or achievement of their project without restriction from the University. Funds are not to be used for teaching and must adhere to state restrictions on secondary education funding.
Eligibility and Requirements
- The AHF is open to all Texas A&M PI-eligible faculty at any level of their career or tenure status engaged in humanities or creative arts scholarship are eligible for the Arts and Humanities Fellows Program. Scholars outside the fields of Arts and Humanities are eligible if they employ a predominantly humanistic approach.
- The duration of the Fellowship is three years.
Proposal Guidelines
Basic Overview
Provide a brief overview of the basic ideas, problems, or questions addressed by the project.
Intellectual significance
Describe the intellectual significance of the proposed project, its potential to advance the field of study, and its benefits to the general community. What are the measurable impacts of the project? Through what mechanisms will these impacts be achieved?
Methodology and Current State
Describe your methods, the current state of the project, and what part or stage of the project will be supported by the fellowship. Indicate what will be accomplished during each year of the award. Outline acceptable methodology and explain how your proposed research will help you resolve the problems or questions you are examining.
Work plan
Present a schedule for key project components, including a timeline for the research and/or writing during the fellowship period. What steps are anticipated during the fellowship period? What is the expected result?
Expertise and Background
Explain how your expertise or background prepares you for the area of inquiry and the execution of the work within the proposed time frame. If the area of inquiry is new to you, explain your reasons for working in it and your qualifications to do so.
Final Project and Dissemination
Describe the intended results of the project (e.g. Book, musical composition, journal article(s), etc.). Explain how the final product will be disseminated and why these means are appropriate to the subject matter and audience.
Supporting Materials
Up to two additional pages of images, musical scores, or other non-text materials.
Bibliography
No more than one single-spaced page.
Resume
No more than two single-spaced pages.
Submission
Completed applications must be submitted through InfoReady no later than noon Central Daylight Time, April 15, 2026. Anticipated decisions for awards will be within 2 months of the deadline.

Methodological Rigor & Theoretical Grounding
The quality of the proposal regarding its methodology, scope, theoretical framework, and grounding in the relevant scholarly literature.
Project Feasibility & Timeline
The project’s feasibility and the applicant’s likelihood to execute the work within the proposed time frame.
Applicant’s Scholarly Profile & Trajectory
The applicant’s scholarly record and career trajectory, taking into account relative advantages and constraints on resources for the proposed project and over the course of the applicant’s career.
Public Accessibility & Community Impact
Public accessibility to, and community benefit from, the scholarly or artistic works of the proposed project.
Opportunities created by the project to attract external funding
Does the proposed research have the potential to lead to future projects that could attract external funding?
