Targeted Proposal Teams

The TPT program aims to enhance Texas A&M University’s research enterprise by fostering interdisciplinary research. TPT seeks to leverage extramural funding and promote collaborative and interdisciplinary research of national and global significance.

Overview

With available funds totaling $5 million, TPT offers seed funding to innovative research projects in three categories:

Collaborative Seed Grants

will support high-risk, high-reward projects in their early stages to enhance research capacity, allowing up to $60,000 for personnel costs, research supplies and project-specific travel over 12 months, with approximately 12 awards granted per call

Proposal Planning Grants

aim to facilitate interdisciplinary teams in preparing large-scale proposals to targeted external sponsors, allowing up to $100,000 for personnel costs, proposal-specific travel, hosting team meetings, and data compilation over 12 months, with approximately 12 awards granted per call.

Grants on the Edge

enhance previously unfunded proposals by addressing reviewer feedback and generating additional data, with awards of up to $25,000 (for proposals under $2 million) or $50,000 (for proposals over $2 million) over 12 months, with approximately 8-10 awards per call.

Eligibility

  • Open to faculty from Texas A&M University (including Galveston and other branch campuses) and Texas A&M System partner research agencies who are eligible to act as principal investigators for external funding.
  • Proposals must involve at least two eligible faculty investigators from different disciplines.
  • Current TPT awardees are not eligible for this round.

  • Jan. 15, 2025, 5 p.m. CDTGrants on the Edge – Round 2 proposal submissions are due via the InfoReady portal.
