Research Compliance
The Division of Research is committed to promoting and ensuring the highest standards of research integrity in proposing, conducting, and reporting research. Through its various programs, the Division provides information and guidance in areas such as biosafety, animal use and care, human research protection, and biosafety occupational health.
Research Compliance and Biosafety
Provides guidance on biosafety, animal care, human research protection and occupational health. Compliance committees oversee safety and adherence to applicable regulations in research, teaching and testing.
Supports Texas A&M’s Institutional Animal Care and Use Committees (IACUC), through which all faculty, staff and students using animals, regardless of location or funding, must obtain approval before activities begin.
Upholds compliance with biohazard regulations through Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) oversight. Activities involving biohazards require prior approval, with training and guidance provided to support safe research, teaching and testing practices.
Provides health services, education, and provider access to personnel at risk of exposure to biohazards or animals during IBC- or IACUC-approved activities.
Protects the rights and welfare of participants in research conducted or reviewed by Texas A&M University, including Texas A&M Health and all of its locations, the School of Law and the branch campuses in Galveston and Qatar.
Report an Incident / Concern
Call 9-1-1 for help from emergency medical services (EMS) for serious injuries, multiple injuries or other medical emergencies.
Research Security and Export Controls
Promotes research integrity by offering guidance on export controls, conflicts of interest, visiting scholars, and responsible conduct in proposing, conducting, and reporting research.
Assures full compliance with U.S. relevant laws and regulations, including the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) enforced by the Department of Commerce, the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) governed by the Department of State, and regulations from the Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
Supports a transparent system of disclosure, approval and documentation of financial interests and activities outside of Texas A&M, which might otherwise raise concerns about conflicts of interest or commitment.
Provides guidelines to ensure adherence to U.S. laws on foreign influence, prioritizing compliance while valuing international collaborations, particularly with countries of concern, to support ethical and lawful research partnerships
Committed to responsible and ethical research conduct, adhering to federal, state and university guidelines on Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) for faculty, staff and students.
Requires prior approval from the department head, dean and Division of Research for all visiting scholars accessing Texas A&M research or clinical facilities and resources.
Calls for individuals working on federal, state, or certain non-federal sponsored projects, compensated or not, to certify effort using the Time and Effort Certification System for exempt employees or TimeTraq for non-exempt employees.
