Three Steps to Get Started in Research
1. Explore Your Interests:
Use the Research Opportunities Database for posted positions, or browse Scholars@TAMU to search for faculty by specific keywords (e.g., “bionics,” “sustainable agriculture” or “digital humanities”). This helps you identify research topics that align with your major or career goals.
2. Connect with Faculty:
Reach out to professors during office hours or via email with a tailored statement of interest, your resume/CV and a brief description of why their lab’s work excites you. Use the profile data on Scholars@TAMU to reference their recent publications.
3. Secure Funding and Recognition:
Apply for LAUNCH travel grants and undergraduate research fellowships, and prepare to present your findings at the annual Texas A&M Student Research Symposium.
